The University Hospital of the West Indies is the regional teaching hospital for the Caribbean. It provides secondary and tertiary health care services that are accessible to both local and regional communities. It is also the major centre for research.

It is a multidisciplinary type A health facility and is a referral hospital accepting cases from both public and private hospitals.
